Milo Center, or Nichols Corners as it was originally called, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in western New York. This is its burial ground. It was on the farm of Adam Hunt and contains many members of the Hunt family, so it is sometimes called the Hunt Cemetery. The cemetery is not an active one, and it is now maintained by the town. A map of its lots was made by John Hollowell, a lifelong resident and descendant of more than one of the original families here. This map is at the Yates County Genealogical & Historical Society in Penn Yan, and was used to augment and confirm this listing. |
